I recently found out I am extremely Vitamin D deficient, thanks to long work hours indoors and crappy Wisconsin weather. Normal levels are 50-100, low levels are 30-50, and I came in at a solid 25. Very few foods contain Vitamin D naturally so I am Taking supplements daily. However, there are a few foods that do contain the nutrient: shiitake dried mushrooms, mackerel, salmon, herring, sardines, tuna and cod liver oil. So mainly fish that eat a lot of sun rich plankington. I tried to find what I could at Trader Joe’s for quality and price. I also have a very nice boyfriend who took me out for a surprise mackerel dinner. If that isn’t true romance, I don’t know what is!
